ANNUAL CALENDAR OF EVENTS

FEBRUARY
Social Evening

What better way to start a new year than with a social evening where you get the opportunity to meet your neighbours, talk to committee members and see what is planned for the coming year.

MAY
Brentham May Day

A procession around Brentham Garden Suburb, followed by the crowning of the May Queen and maypole dancing in the grounds of the Brentham Club. The event is organised by a small group independent of the Brentham Society, but the Society is a keep supporter and encourages residents to volunteer their help.

JUNE
Open Garden Day

One of the most popular events of the season. View a selection of gardens on Brentham – they are all different, all delightful and contain many surprises. This is an ideal opportunity to talk to the owners about planting in different conditions and soils – if it works for them, it will work for you.

JUNE
Strawberry Tea

A charming afternoon in a Brentham garden drinking tea and mixing socially with neighbours and local dignitaries whilst eating strawberries and homemade cakes..

JULY
Family Cycle

A leisurely cycle ride from Brentham to Osterley House and back along quiet pathways and the canal, avoiding busy roads and traffic. Stopping for refreshments at Osterley. The ride is suitable for all ages.

SEPTEMBER
Guided Walk

As part of the annual London Open House Weekend the Brentham Society organises a guided walk around the suburb lead by local architect Clive Hicks. An excellent opportunity to find out more about the history, architecture and hidden gems of Brentham.

OCTOBER
Brentham Society AGM

Our chance to report on the year and your chance to quiz us on any aspect of the work of the Society. We often have a guest speaker or a theme to the evening and try and make the evening as interactive as possible.

DECEMBER
Carol Singing

Usually held over two evenings, this festive tradition ensures a good start to the Christmas holiday while raising money for a local charity. Singers and tin-rattlers always welcome.

.

In addition to our regular calendar we hold other events on an ad hoc basis, such as wine tasting, quiz nights, heritage and arts & crafts visits, and educational talks. See Notice Boards and Brentham News during the year for dates.

We are keen to extend our range of activities in order to cater for a wide range of people, tastes and interests. What other events would you like to see on our calendar? Do you have an event which you would like to organise? There are already a number of social groups affiliated to the Brentham Society, for example, a book club and a gardening group. Are there any others you’d like to see?

Please contact Rosanna Henderson.with your ideas and suggestions – if you include your phone number in your email Rosanna can call you to chat about your ideas.
